Not all jobs require a licensed contractor, but the HSE recommends using one in all cases. Licensed contractors are legally required for work involving asbestos insulation, asbestos insulation board (AIB), and sprayed coatings. For other materials such as asbestos cement, a licensed contractor is not legally required but is strongly advisable.
